KABIR - THE ETHICAL BUSINESSMAN AND PRAGMATIST
Kabir Saheb's life and legacy has inspired many a traveller on this path of love. He walked the talk as they say in this modern world of business savy professionals. As a businessman himself, Kabir Saheb never compromised on the principles which he taught: truthfulness, humility, equality, courtesy, steadfastness, compassion. He sold his cotton cloth in the farmers market for its true value and never sort to deceive his customers with inflated prices and substandard quality goods. He insisted in sharing his gains with those who were less fortunate than himself, and he never borrrowed nor loaned to others, but chose rather to give wholehertedly without any strings attached. In this way Kabir saheb was debt free and so were those who chose to do business by his example. In addition he lived simply, never wasting or abusing resources nor living above his means.
In a world in which the credit crisis has finally taken its toll on millions of people across the earth, let us hope that we will soon come to realize that the only solution to this debt is forgiveness. We can all come together in our own homes, communities and villages to work towards debt forgivness and be able to advance the cause of simple living in a world desperate for compassion, purity, and love.
May Kabir Saheb's Blessings be showered upon us on this occassion of Kabir Jayanti 2008 so that we can find the way to face the challenges of our time, and achieve the unity and peace for which Kabir Saheb stood.
